Divinyls Singer Chrissy Amphlett Dead At 53

The lead singer of Divinyls Chrissy Amphlett, best known for her big hit "I Touch Myself," has passed away. She was 53.

Amphlett had battled breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.

"Christine Joy Amphlett succumbed to the effects of breast cancer and multiple sclerosis, diseases she vigorously fought with exceptional bravery and dignity," her husband, onetime Divinyls drummer Charley Drayton, said in a statement.

It has to be noted that the Australian band rose to fame in the 1980s and early 1990s, scoring its biggest international hit with the naughty "I Touch Myself."

Amphlett also acted, including a stage role as Russell Crowe's mother in an Australian production of "Blood Brothers."

On Monday, Crowe tweeted: "Dear Chrissie, The last time I saw you was in the Botanic Gardens, loving life and reciting verse. That's how I'll remember you, your boy, R."
