Josh Gad To Star In "Gilligan's Island"

Josh Gad is scheduled to star in a "Gilligan's Island" film.

Gad, famous for "The Book of Mormon" on Broadway and TV roles featuring "1600 Penn," will play the title character, a bumbling goofball who was stranded with six other castaways on the legendary 1960s television sitcom.

Gad, 32, will also co-write the project.

No other casting has been confirmed.

"Gilligan's Island" creator Sherwood Schwartz had another of his iconic shows, "The Brady Bunch," turned into a tongue-in-cheek movie adaptation in the 1990s.
