Sid Caesar Dead At 91

Comedy legend Sid Caesar, whose TV shows helped define the medium in the 1950s, has passed away.

He was 91.

His passing was announced on Wednesday.


Caesar was famous for the pioneering 1950s live television series "Your Show of Shows" and its successor "Caesar's Hour", which influenced generations of comedians such as Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Neil Simon, Larry Gelbart and Woody Allen.

He also appeared in films like "Grease", "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" and "Silent Movie".
