"X Factor" Singer Simone Battle Dead At 25 In Apparent Suicide

Simone Battle, the "X Factor" singer in girl group G.R.L., has died in an apparent suicide. She was 25.

Battle was found dead in her Los Angeles property on Friday.

While there is no official cause of death at this time, law enforcement officials revealed to celebrity website TMZ that Battle was discovered hanging on a rod in her bedroom closet in an apparent suicide.

Battle rose to stardom as a finalist the first season of the American version of "The X Factor" in 2011.

After being part of a proposed Pussycat Dolls reboot in 2012, the performer teamed up with the new group G.R.L., which released its debut album earlier this year.

On Saturday, G.R.L. organizer Robin Antin and the group's record label issued a statement confirming Battle's tragic passing: "We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L. Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time."
