Static-X Frontman Wayne Static Dead At 48

Wayne Static, the onetime frontman of metal band Static, X, has died. He was 48.


The late musician passed away 3 days before his 49th birthday at 9 p.m.


Static, whose real name is Wayne Richard Wells, formed Static-X in 1994, and dropped their debut album in 1999 after signing with Warner Bros. Records. Their first album, "Wisconsin Death Trip", went platinum while their second, "Machine", became gold. The late singer released six albums before disbanding in 2013. Static was the only original member to stay with the band throughout its run and he also recorded a solo album titled "Pighammer", which came out in 2011.

The cause of death has yet to be released. According to several rumors, his death was caused by a drug-overdose.
