Broadway Actor Kyle Jean-Baptiste Dead At 21 After Tragic Fall

Kyle Jean-Baptiste has tragically died at the age of 21 after falling off from a fire escape at his mother's home.

The African-American actor recently made his Broadway debut in the current revival of "Les Miserables" as an ensemble member and an understudy to Jean Valjean, the character Hugh Jackman played in the film.

Jean-Baptiste made history just weeks ago when he became the youngest artist and also the first African-American man to portray Jean Valjean on Broadway.

"The entire Les Miserables family is shocked and devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of Kyle, a remarkable young talent and tremendous person who made magic - and history - in his Broadway debut," Broadway World confirmed the news of his tragic loss in a statement from the company, adding: "We send our deepest condolences to his family and ask that you respect their privacy in this unimaginably difficult time."

Just a few weeks ago, the late actor did an impromptu performance of the show's track "The Confrontation" with Lin-Manuel Miranda.
