Selena Gomez is officially joining forces with Netflix

According to Variety, Gomez, 23, is in talks to adapt the best-selling young adult book "13 Reasons Why" into a 13-episode miniseries for the streaming service.

"13 Reasons Why" will be based on the 2007 novel by Jay Asher, which centers around a boy named Clay Jensen who gets home from school to discover a mysterious box with cassette tapes inside recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and crush, who committed suicide two weeks earlier. She reveals thirteen reasons why she made the decision to put an end to her life and Clay is one of them.

Gomez read the book and bought the rights to a screen adaptation with her mother Mandy Teefey and producer Kristel Laiblin. All three will act as executive producers.
