"Glee" Production Delayed Over Cory Monteith Death

FOX announced on Friday that production on season 5 of "Glee" has been pushed back in the wake of Cory Monteith's tragic passing.

The series was set to resume production for its new season this month, but the show's status was suddenly thrown into question when Monteith was found dead of an accidental overdose last Saturday.

The network now says in a statement: "In light of the tragic passing of beloved GLEE cast member Cory Monteith, the series' executive producers, 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Broadcasting Company have jointly decided to delay the start of production of GLEE until early August."

The later start will push the season premiere date back one week, from September 19 to September 26.

It still remains unclear how writers will work Monteith's death into the show's storylines, with his character Finn Hudson previously being an integral part of the series.

In its statement, FOX also stated that the star "worked closely with several charitable organizations, devoted to helping people effect positive change in their lives," and said Project Limelight Society, Virgin Unite, and Chrysalis will be accepting donations "in honor of his passing.""
