Peter O'Toole Dead At 81

Peter O'Toole is dead.

According to his agent, the iconic screen and stage star died in a London hospital on Saturday after a long disease. He was 81.

O'Toole is famous for starring in "Lawrence of Arabia".


O'Toole's other remarkable film work features "My Favorite Year", "Man of La Mancha", "Venus" and the "Joan of Arc" miniseries.




His most recent fare, prior to retiring in 2012, includes "Ratatouille", "Troy" and "The Tudors."


O'Toole also worked in dozens of stage productions over the years.

A four-time Golden Globe winner, O'Toole holds the record for the most Academy Award acting nominations without a single win.

In 2003, O'Toole received an honorary Oscar for his body of work.


Daughter Kate, one of the legend's three kids, said in a statement: "His family are very appreciative and completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of real love and affection being expressed towards him, and to us, during this unhappy time."





"Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts," she was quoted as saying, adding: "In due course there will be a memorial filled with song and good cheer, as he would have wished."
