Oscar De La Renta Dies: Celebrities React

Celebrities are mourning the fashion icon Oscar de la Renta, who died on Monday at 82 after a longtime struggle with cancer.  


De la Renta dressed a number of first ladies, including Jacqueline Kennedy, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Reagan, as well as countless stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristen Stewart, Oprah and Cameron Diaz.

Now, several celebrities have taken to twitter to express their grief. 


Taylor Swift: "My all-time favorite designer has passed away. Oscar, it was an honor to wear your creations and to know you. In loving memory."

Kathy Griffin: "He made this secret fashion girl's dreams come true #OscarDelaRenta," along with a few pictures of herself in de la Renta creations.

Many celebrities like Lucy Liu, Alyssa Milano and Naya Rivera used hashtags like "#RIP Oscar de la Renta."


Larry King: "What a legend, what a life. #RIP to one of the world's most legendary fashion designers Oscar de la Renta."




Nicky Hilton: "What a sad day for the fashion industry. An icon is gone. RIP Oscar de la Renta."

Andy Cohen: "a creative genius!"


Rose McGowan: "Thank you for your artistry, Mr. de la Renta. #oscardelarenta rest in peace."


Ivanka Trump: "Truly saddened by the loss of one of the greatest fashion icons of all time. Oscar de la Renta will be greatly missed."


Zoe Saldana: "Iconic legendary genius, gone but definitely not forgotten #OscarDeLaRenta My heart goes out to the De La Renta family."

Erika Christensen: "Such romance he brought us… (I'd do a broken heart emoticon, but is he too classy for that?)."


Others quoted the designer. Lindsay Lohan tweeted de la Renta claiming: "Never in the history of the world have women been more in control of their destiny."



Kris Jenner shared the designer's belief that "Fashion is a trend, style lives within a person," adding her own thoughts: "The world has lost another icon today. May a man who inspired so many rest in peace."
