Pamela Anderson On "Baywatch" Movie Reboot: "No One Appreciates Remakes"

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Zac Efron are going to star in a reboot of the TV show "Baywatch", but one of the original series' biggest star is not pleased.

In an interview with celebrity website TMZ on Saturday, Anderson, 48, claimed that a new "Baywatch" film would be a bad idea.

"No one appreciates the remakes," Anderson, who rose to fame for starring as C.J. Parker on the original "Baywatch" between 1992 and 1998, stated when asked about the upcoming movie from director Seth Gordon.

Pamela noted that the 1990s were a "simpler, sweeter time" that would not translate well onto the modern-day big screen.

The upcoming "Baywatch" stars have actually pointed out that the future show would emphasize more on action and less on sexy young women running in swimsuits.

"It's going to be R-rated, and it's going to be badass," Efron, 27, explained to Reuters on Tuesday.

"I don't think it's going to be much like the old Baywatch, to be honest," Zac was quoted as saying, adding: "I think we're going to kind of reinvent it in a big way."

Johnson, though, acknowledged the need to take "great care" when rebooting a TV series that was pretty loved by the audience.

"We want to make a big movie - a fun beach movie," Dwayne revealed at the D23 convention on Friday.

"(We want to) bring the beach movie back to the world but also have something that has edge and has badass action and really dirty, rated-R humour - which is right in my wheelhouse," he added.

The "Baywatch" producers, who have intended to start production early in 2016, have obviously not sought out the 1989-2001 series' stars.

While Johnson, 43, implied that Anderson's role of C.J. might make a comeback, the actress confessed to TMZ that she had not been asked to do the reboot.

"Who's going to play C.J.?" Dwayne wondered, adding "I can't tell you the amount of calls we've been getting from the most gorgeous actresses and models in the world, from their agents and managers. They all want to be C.J."
