Valerie Harper Terminal Brain Cancer
Valerie Harper, 73, has terminal brain cancer.
Harper announced the sad news in the new issue of People magazine, where she reveals she's suffering from leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a rare condition in which cancer cells spread into the membrane surrounding the brain.
According to her doctors, Harper, who previously battled lung cancer, may not have more than three months left to live.
Harper was diagnosed with the incurable disease in January.
"I was stunned," Harper revealed to People. "And in the next minute I thought: "This could draw more attention to cancer research." I think there's an opportunity to help people."
With possibly just weeks left to live, Harper claims she doesn't "think of dying."
"I think of being here now," Harper was quoted as saying.
