Quincy Jones Sues Michael Jackson's Estate
Quincy Jones is filing a lawsuit against Michael Jackson's estate, stating he's owed millions of dollars in royalties and production fees.
Jones, 80, filed the lawsuit on Friday, seeking approximately $10 million from Jackson's estate and Sony Music.
The music mogul, who worked on the late performer's immensely successful albums "Off The Wall", "Thriller" and "Bad", contends that the estate and Sony improperly re-edited some of Jackson's hit songs for use in the film "This Is It" and in two Cirque du Soleil shows in order to cut out the music industry legend.
Tracks including "Billie Jean" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" are among the songs Jones reveals were re-edited without his participation or consent, which he notes he was contractually owed.
Jones also declares that he should have been labeled a producer on the music that was included in "This Is It".
In reply, Jackson's estate claimed: "To the best of its knowledge, Mr. Jones has been appropriately compensated over approximately 35 years for his work with Michael."
