Chris Harrison Opens Up About The Bachelor's Chris Soules And Whitney Bischoff Split (VIDEO)
Chris Harrison feels sorry for the former "Bachelor" star Chris Soules and his now ex-fiancee Whitney Bischoff.
In a clip obtained by US Weekly, the host of the ABC franchise tells Hallmark's Home & Family co-hosts Mark and Christina that their breakup will be hard, just like any other couple.
"I was really sorry to hear this morning that Chris and Whitney had ended their engagement, obviously from our last show The Bachelor…He went on to do Dancing With the Stars and moved back to Iowa and I thought they had given it a go and were going back together but apparently not," Harrison was quoted as saying.
While the former pair's separation was big news to Harrison, he stated he has been in contact with the season 19 Bachelor.
"I will admit I've texted Chris on and off today just letting him know I wish them both well and they're both good friends of mine and if there is anything I can do to help with," Harrison explained, noting: "And that's one of the things that's odd about the show, I know it is television and I know there are silly things that go on, but, to me, they are also real people. They're just two kids that were hopefully going to get married and they're not now and that's sad…they're still two people going through a breakup, so it's still tough. I wish them the best."
Bischoff and Soules, who became engaged during the season 19 finale, revealed they were going their separate ways in a joint statement.
"Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement," the former couple announced, adding: "They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends. They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey."
Earlier this month, Soules dismissed rumors of a separation, saying: "We're together and we're in love…We're making the best of a really cool situation."
