Fred Armisen To Lead Band On "Late Night With Seth Meyers"

Fred Armisen will lead the house band on "Late Night with Seth Meyers."

On Monday, Meyers shared a snapshot on twitter of his old "Saturday Night Live" friend and the rest of the band, writing: "Here's the first photo of the new @LateNightSeth band!".

They will be known as the 8G Band, named for the show's studio.

Armisen, 47, will continue to make his own series "Portlandia."

For three decades, the show's group has been a musical high point in late-night television.

David Letterman had sidekick Paul Shaffer; Conan O'Brien brought along drumming legend Max Weinberg; and the most recent host, Jimmy Fallon, was joined by The Roots.
