Cate Blanchett Thanks Woody Allen In Oscars Acceptance Speech (VIDEO)
Cate Blanchett received Best Actress at Sunday's 86th Academy Awards and thanked everyone from her competition to her "Blue Jasmine" co-stars to its writer-director Woody Allen to the actors back in her native Australia.
"Sit down. You're too old to be standing," Blanchett, 44, told the audience as she accepted her award, noting: "Thank you so much to the Academy."
"I'm here accepting an award in an extraordinary screenplay by Woody Allen. Thank you so much, Woody, for casting me. I'm truly appreciated. I'm so very proud that Blue Jasmine stayed in the cinemas for as long as it did," Blanchett was quoted as saying.
Blanchett also used the stage to admonish anyone who still considers women-centric movies as a "niche" product that can't make money.
