Ryan Gosling Booed At Cannes Premiere For Directorial Debut "Lost River"

Ryan Gosling was booed for his directorial debut "Lost River" at the Cannes Film Festival.

After having to tolerate the theatergoers' mocks, Gosling, 33, was given mostly devastating reviews from critics who blasted the movie, which he also wrote.

"If a $200 haircut and $900 shades were given lots of money to defecate on Detroit, the result would be Ryan Gosling's directing debut," Grantland's Westley Morris wrote on twitter after the film's premiere on Tuesday.

Variety's film critic Justin Chang also tweeted: "Hey girl, wanna see a terrible movie? Ryan Gosling's directing debut LOST RIVER lands with a thud in #Cannes2014."

"Had Terrence Malick and David Lynch somehow conceived an artistic love-child together, only to see it get kidnapped, strangled and repeatedly kicked in the face by Nicolas Winding Refn, the results might look and sound something like "Lost River,"" Chang wrote in his review for Variety.

The movie, starring Christina Hendricks and Eva Mendes, is about a single mom who gets caught in a dark underworld, while her son finds a road to an underwater utopia.
