Blake Shelton Performs "Halftime Show" For Veterans (VIDEO)

Blake Shelton and Pepsi joined their forces for a special "halftime show" in Corpus Christi, Texas, for thousands of men and women in the armed forces, as a thank you for their invaluable service.

Pepsi said: "OPERATION HALFTIME is a go! Our good buddy Blake Shelton wanted to help Pepsi say thanks to a few thousand military veterans and their families…so he hopped on a helicopter and landed it atop the deck of the USS Lexington, exactly halfway across the country. What happened after that truly brought the magic of halftime to life."

In footage from the event, Shelton, 38, noted his personal connection, revealing: "My dad is a veteran of the Korean War. My brother is in army veteran." He and several veterans then go on to talk about how service members are trained for war, but unfortunately not prepared for their comeback to civilian life. "This is the kind of thing that has to happen," Shelton was quoted as saying, adding: "because this is the only that we can say thanks."

Shelton shared the clip on Friday, tweeting: "Now THAT was a halftime show! Thx to all our vets for your service…let's get Hyped For #Halftime!" The video also includes the "Voice" coach singing "Lonely Tonight" with Ashley Monroe, who performs with Shelton's wife Miranda Lambert in the all-girl band Pistol Annies.

Just in case you have missed it, the actual Super Bowl halftime show in February is set to feature Katy Perry.
