Lita Ford Talks Meryl Streep's Performance In "Ricki And The Flash"
Lita Ford has recently opened up about Meryl Streep's performance in the comedy-drama movie "Ricki and the Flash".
In case you don't know, Ford, now 56, has been performing with the legendary band The Runaways in the second half of the 1970s before embarking on a solo career in the 1980s.
In a new interview with Billboard, Ford said: "This film is very close to home," noting: "I live it."
"Meryl has accomplished no easy task here," Lita stated.
"This is one of her best performances on the soundtrack. She sells the song with her attitude. You can't help but believe her when you hear her sing," Ford said about Streep's version of Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice's song "Cold One".
"Meryl had no problem with this song. It was a great choice. Her performance was excellent. It was a perfect vocal range for her, not pushing her so that it's uncomfortable," the iconic singer - songwriter said about Meryl's rendition of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' track "American Girl".
"This was one of my favorite songs as a kid, and when I listen to Meryl's version, she pulls everybody in with her and makes it like one big crowd singing. I love the energy, and her husky voice," Ford said about Streep's cover of Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs' track "Wooly Bully".
"That song is difficult for anybody, but she pulls it off. I wish I could have helped her with her breathing. That's a huge part of being a vocalist," Lita commented about Meryl's performance of U2's song "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For".
