Ed Sheeran Sings Ill Teenage Fan Triona Priestley To Sleep Moments Before She Dies
15-year-old girl Triona Priestley, who battled cystic fibrosis, passed away in Dublin on Tuesday just moments after her idol Ed Sheeran sang her to sleep on the phone.
The teenager's dying wish to make contact with Sheeran, 23, was granted after family and pals began a #SongForTri campaign on twitter that caught the attention of the performer's team.
Sheeran called her up to serenade her over the hospital with her favorite track "Little Bird."
It was the last thing she ever heard.
Triona's brother Colm told The Independent: "Myself and my family would like to thank Ed Sheeran and everyone who started and supported the #SongForTri campaign."
"What they gave us and her was a beautiful last moment together," he went on, adding: "Triona slipped into a sleep as Ed was singing to her and passed away shortly afterwards. So Ed Sheeran sang her to sleep. We would like to thank everyone who played their part in making that happen."
After Priestley died, Sheeran wrote on twitter: "Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x."
