Famed Photographer Mary Ellen Mark Dead At 75

Mary Ellen Mark has died. She was 75. 










"Mary Ellen touched so many people throughout the world. We all celebrate her fierce and passionate spirit," a spokesperson said in a statement about the famous photographer, who passed away on Monday May 25 in New York City.


During her career, Mark published 17 books of photographs and contributed her photos to iconic magazines including Vogue, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker and Life.


Mary had also worked as a unit photographer on sets of several films, such as Arthur Penn's "Alice's Restaurant" (1969), Mike Nichols' "Catch-22" (1970), "Carnal Knowledge" (1971), Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" (1979),  Federico Fellini's "Satyricon" (1969) and Baz Luhrmann's "Australia" (2008).

Mary is survived by husband Martin Bell, who is a movie director.
