Tobey Maguire Quotes

1. I just try to try to keep an attitude that I don't know what I'm doing. Not to the point where I'm beating myself up, but I just go in thinking that I have a lot to learn. And I hope I still have that attitude 30 years from now.

2. I never read comic books. I was just never a comic book fan, so it's not like I ever dreamed about playing Spider Man.

5. I started working around eighth grade. I remember doing a Doritos commercial where there were four days in a row of eating them, and I will tell you, I have not eaten many Doritos since.

6. I think fame is a really complicated thing. It can be a great challenge to handle the difficult parts of it and strengthen your character so you don't get affected in a negative way by it. And I'm scared and excited and hesitant and anxious. I'm conflicted about it, truly.

7. I had to lose 15 pounds to be Spider-Man, had to pack on 25 for Seabiscuit and now I have to lose that for Spider-Man 2! Why can't I do a movie where I'm normal?

9. I'll go do films for three or four months and then I can't wait to go home to LA. And I complain about LA left and right, but then I always end up wanting to go home, you know?

10. I believe in a higher force that is within me.

11. I don't want to give my personal life away to whoever decides to pick up a magazine. I'm not a zoo animal on display. Some people obviously welcome that, creating certain behavior so that a particular type of press attention never fades. But it's not for me.

12. (on ending the Spider Man film series with the third installment) To me it seems like this is a natural point for the team to break up because we have a lot of story conclusions that were going along for the main characters for the first two movies and we kind of tie almost everything up for the third movie. It feels like a trilogy to me and it feels like the end.

13. I've been curious about certain things, but didn't let them get in the way of my life. I don't know how people become successful with some kind of habit.

14. I think the greatest way to learn is to learn by someone's example.

It's never really been that hard for me. I've never had any desire to eat meat. In fact, when I was a kid I would have a really difficult time eating meat at all. It had to be the perfect bite, with no fat or gristle or bone or anything like that. I don't judge people who eat meat - that's not for me to say - but the whole thing just sort of bums me out.

24. There's so many things I want to do. I want to work with great filmmakers, great actors, great scripts. And there's no reason for me to do anything short of that, because I'm 24, I don't have a family, I don't need to make tons of money, and I'm not dying to get famous.
