Lily Tomlin To Marry Partner Of 42 Years Jane Wagner
Lily Tomlin, 73, has spent 42 years with her partner Jane Wagner, but the Supreme Court's recent rulings on DOMA and Proposition 8 may have inspired her to tie the knot.
"We're thinking maybe we'll get married," Tomlin revealed to E! News' Marc Malkin at the The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Pre-Emmy Performers Peer Group reception on Monday night.
Tomlin stated she didn't consider she would be able to wed in her lifetime, but she's excited she has the opportunity now.
"You don't really need to get married, but marriage is awfully nice. Everybody I know who got married, they say it really makes a difference. They feel very very happy about it," Tomlin was quoted as saying.
Tomlin is not thinking of a traditional wedding.
"No rings, no bridal dresses," Tomlin noted, adding: "Maybe we'll be dressed like chickens."
It has to be noted that Tomlin came out during a 2000 interview with a New York TV show called Gay USA.
"I'm not going to make a big national case of it which is what, really, everybody would like to do, or some people," Tomlin claimed at the time.
In 2008, Tomlin revealed: "Everybody in the industry was certainly aware of my sexuality and of Jane…In interviews I always reference Jane and talk about Jane, but they don't always write about it."
