Denise Richards Plastic Surgery

American actress and former fashion model Denise Richards (full name: Denise Lee Richards) is rumored to have had plastic surgery to improve her appearance.

In detail, Richards, 42, is speculated to have gotten breast implants, botox injections and facial fillers like Radiesse.

Richards showed off a very tight and shiny complexion as she walked the red carpet at the 6th Annual PINK party held at the W Hotel in Hollywood in September 2010. Her face was "frozen" in key areas that she couldn't make a facial  expression, an obvious indication of botox injections

While Richards has never admitted to having anything done to her face, when asked by radio host Howard Stern if her breasts were real, she gave a very candid answer. "Um, natural on outside, on the inside they are not. I was 19, and my roommate had the best boobs ever, and she had just had hers done. I was flat as a board, and I thought: "Whoa, you can just buy them' and stupidly had them done!" Richards was quoted as saying.

For the second breast augmentation, she claimed that the doctor assumed that because she is an actress, she would want them to be extra large: "The next guy put bigger ones in, and it was not good - they were a D!"

For the third Denise appears to be happy and pleased with the results, which fit her frame and do not stand out overmuch.

On the subject of plastic surgery, Richards told iVillage blog: "I honestly feel that it's whatever makes a person feel good about themselves."

Denise had her first breast enlargement surgery in 1991, when she was just 19 years old. Denise was in such a hurry to have her breast implants that she failed to do the proper research and ended up with a plastic surgeon that implanted larger breasts implants than she asked for.

Denise decided to get her second set of breast implants in 1997, right before she filmed "Wild Things", and again was unhappy with the results. Denise feels that the plastic surgeon botched the breast augmentation surgery, but did not want to get into a lawsuit with a plastic surgeon in order to protect her privacy.

"At 19 when I first got my breasts done, I wish that I was confident enough with my body to not have had surgery. That is something that I really want to encourage in my daughters, to embrace their healthy body and have confidence. I actually feel more confident in my skin now than in my 20's. Being confident is one of the sexiest qualities a woman can exude," Richards revealed to Us Weekly.

"When I was 19, a doctor put in bigger implants than what I asked for. I was in such a hurry to get them that I didn't research my doctor. I just thought because they're a plastic surgeon, they must be good. You have to be your advocate for your own body and ask 100 questions", Richards continued.

"I felt very vulnerable. I was getting ready to film (her 1998 movie) "Wild Things," and I didn't want to get into a lawsuit with some plastic surgeon. It wasn't right what the doctor did, but it is what it is," explained.

"I'm happy with them now, but in a year that could change," Richards added.

The question is: "What plastic surgeons believe about Denise Richards' plastic surgery?"

Plastic surgeon and blogger Dr. John Di Saia agrees with the importance of patients choosing a doctor carefully, but states it's even more important for patients to communicate clearly.

"They need to communicate their desires and risk tolerance to their surgeons…I'd wager Denise did not communicate much with her surgeon. Patients should ascertain not just plastic surgeons' training but also their style and attitudes," Dr. John Di Saia was quoted as saying.

"The philosophy of the surgeon can be just as important as his or her qualifications here. Some surgeons tend to place larger implants than others, although patients do better over the long term with intermediate-sized implants," Dr. John Di Saia added.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden explained: "Revisional breast augmentation is unfortunately not uncommon although many plastic surgeons are striving to lower reoperation rates with this surgery. Revisional surgery may be necessary for patients that suffer from capsular contracture or implant rupture and is also done to either reduce or increase implant size, often the case when patients bear children and desire a breast lift also. Denise Richards is no exception, and her story about the miscommunication regarding her breast size with her surgeon is heard way too often. However her current surgeon has chosen implants that fit her frame and complements her figure."

Dr. Walden stated: "As for her smooth forehead and wide-eyed look, she may have used Botox around her forehead and eyebrow region, as well as lip injections with soft tissue fillers. Weight loss, hair extensions, and tanning can also be attributed to her new look."

New York plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer revealed: "Denise admits to 3 breast augmentations. While most people are very happy with their primary augmentation, some people do decide later to go larger or smaller or may need revisions. Also, women who previously had saline breast augmentation are now choosing to exchange their implants for the more natural feeling silicone breast implants."

Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrrell J. Aston claimed: "Denise Richards made her plastic surgery experiences public after discussing her breast implants on Howard Stern. She admitted that she has undergone three separate operations in order to get the look that made her happy. A few women will find that they want to change the size of their implants as they age and their lifestyle changes. I think that Denise looks very attractive and her breast size is perfect for her body type."

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer said: "Denise Richards may have been treated with some facial fillers to give her that wide look to her face."

Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer explained: "It is important to help kids have good self-esteem. Sometimes a physical feature can be the cause of low self-esteem and even bullying exacerbating the problem. Plastic surgery has helped many young patients boost their self-esteem and confidence tremendously."
