Richie Havens Dead At 72
Richie Havens, the rock and folk singer who was the opening act at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, has passed away.
He was 72.
According to a statement from his family, Havens died of a heart attack on Monday.
In 1993, Havens performed at President Bill Clinton's inauguration.
He performed for most of his adult life until last month, when he announced he would stop touring after 45 years due to health concerns.
A public memorial is slated for a later date.
