George Jones Dead At 81
Country music legend George Jones has passed away. He was 81.
Jones, who had been on oxygen for some time, died of respiratory failure.
Jones' fame as a performer spanned decades, with well over 100 charted hits including "He Stopped Loving Her Today."
Known for his hard living, emotional lyrics and baritone voice, Jones, who was once married to Tammy Wynette, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992.
He was in a serious car accident in 1999, but recovered, got sober, and toured until the end of his life.
Jones, nicknamed "The Possum," is survived by four children and his fourth wife, Nancy.
