Chelsea Clinton Is Leaving NBC News

Chelsea Clinton revealed she is leaving her correspondent job as she decided to take on mom duties.

After almost three years as a special correspondent for NBC News, Clinton, 34, is now stepping out of that position. "To continue focusing on my work at the Clinton Foundation and as Marc and I look forward to welcoming our first child," Chelsea was quoted as saying.

Having specialized in positive stories of "remarkable people and organizations making a profound difference," the former first daughter claims the highlights of her job included meeting personalities such as Annette Dove, whose TOPPS program in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, "continues to fill the hunger, education and safety gaps for kids of all ages in her community."

Clinton expressed her gratitude to viewers who responded to her stories by helping to fund and expand programs she featured. According to NBC, TOPPS raised $300,000 after Chelsea's report.

"Chelsea's storytelling inspired people across the country and showcased the real power we have as individuals to make a difference in our communities," senior vice president of NBC News Alex Wallace pointed out, noting: "While she will be missed, we look forward to working with her in the future."

The mom-to-be will keep on working at the Clinton Foundation, where she focuses on improving global and domestic health, advancing the status of girls and women and developing service opportunities.

Clinton and Mezvinsky have made the decision to wait on discovering the baby's gender, but are preparing a library and picking books. "They're very happy and excited," an insider stated.
