19. When I think of the future, I think a lot of Quincy Jones and how he is an inspiration. Look at the quality of his work over so many years. He didn't even make his best record, "Thriller," until he was 50. That gives me something to look forward to. Nothing pulls you back into the studio more than the belief that your best record is still ahead.


20. Engineering and mixing are absolutely key. Once a song is done, for me personally, it's usually two or three days to get the mix down.

21. Kraftwerk had a really big inspiration on the beginning of hip-hop. My tastes change with the season. Right now its Kraftwerk. I'll see what happens this summer.

23. I have a duty to myself to do the best that I can do at anything that I'm doing. And right now hip hop is at the top of my list as far as things that I like to do. 26. It's just first finding the right musicians that understand it and they have to be excited about what they're doing. Some musicians want to sit there and play something they wrote to get money instead of getting the song done. So it's about the musicians understanding and being able to do what they're asked to do. There's no big science behind that too.

27. There is no format. There is no f... meditation process. There is nothing that goes on except me going in the studio and touchin' those buttons. My masters come back to me after a certain period of time. A lotta people involved with Napster are talking about music should be free. Well how the f... are we supposed to make it? It costs to make it! Straight up, this is my job! I bet you there's nobody at Napster that's workin' for free.

30. I'm really protective of my family, myself and my image. It's one of the reasons for my longevity in the business. I'm not a person that really gives a f... about being on camera or people taking pictures of me. I like being to myself. I have my designated events, I do like to party and have fun but in controlled environments, like the room you're sitting in right now.


31. NWA has to be NWA. Eminem is Eminem. NWA is NWA. There's two different things there. For example, let's take the first track on Eminem's album, "I'll Kill You": that's custom made for him. It wouldn't work for Snoop. These two things don't mesh at all. Niggaz Wit' attitudes could not have Eminem in the group. The Public would f... lose it.
