Kerry Washington Joins Fight Against Domestic Abuse (VIDEO)
Kerry Washington did some press for her show "Scandal" on Tuesday afternoon in New York City, carrying her purple purse.
Washington, 37, has a good reason carrying around the special clutch as it raises awareness on domestic violence and financial abuse. She also filmed a PSA for Allstate Foundation's Purple Purse program.
"One in four women will be a victim of domestic violence. Finances are almost always a weapon of choice. Taking away access to cash, destroying credit, jeopardizing jobs; financial abuse leaves invisible bruises that can take decades to heal," Washington states in the PSA.
"But there's hope. Allstate Foundation Purple Purse makes it easier to recognize, talk about, and stop financial abuse. Help women gain control of their purse strings," Kerry added.
