Jason Derulo Opens Up About Jordin Sparks Split
Jason Derulo is opening up against the rumors regarding his split with his long-time girlfriend Jordin Sparks, including an absurd report that he got dumped because he got another woman pregnant.
Over the weekend, MediaTakeOut reported that Derulo, 25, and Sparks, 24, went their separate ways because of Derulo was cheating with model Carmen Ortega and had gotten her pregnant.
That is 100% false.
Derulo called in to "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" on Monday and clarified the matter.
"I'm not one to throw my business out on the street, but I thought it was important because things are getting a little out of hand," Derulo was quoted as saying.
Derulo went on: "I'm seeing all kind of stories about somebody getting pregnant, infidelity, things like me calling it off because of me being too busy and because of my newfound success. So I thought it was important for me to call in and clear the air."
Jason explained: "What happened…in a nutshell, there was a lot of tension in the relationship for a lot of different reasons."
"Every relationship has ups and downs. There was a lot of pressures of marriage," Derulo pointed out, noting: "There was a lot of arguing and stuff like that that just weighed on our relationship over time. When you stop having more good times than bad times, it's time to call it quits. It becomes something that is unhealthy."
Although Derulo based his track "Marry Me" on his affair with Sparks, he revealed that he wasn't prepared for that kind of commitment.
"To be fair, it was not just from her either," Derulo said of the pressure to tie the knot, claiming: "It was kind of from everybody. That's not the sole reason, but it definitely played a part."
As for how the ex couple is doing now, Derulo stated that he wouldn't say they are on "good terms."
"I'll be lying if I said that, but it's not a bad situation," he declared, adding: "There's no bad blood. We didn't end off on a weird way or a negative way. It's not like we're hitting each other up, like: "Hey, what are you doing today?""
