Celebrating Kat Von D's Birthday Through Her Tatoos !

First of all: Who is Kat Von D?
I bet that most of you know! But in the rare case of those who hear her name for the first time, here is a short cv:

Kat Von D is a professional tattoo artist for more than a decade, "New York Times" best-selling author, creator of her own cosmetics and fragrance line for "Sephora", star of "LA Ink," and owner of "Wonderland" gallery. She turns the big 3-0 on March 8th!So, can you imagine the best way to celebrate Kat's 30th birthday?Of course you know! So, let's take a closer look at her body art and explore the stories behind some of her favorite tattoos! Are you ready?

Kat has stated that the tattoo of stars on her face "is a symbol of being able to be heavily tattooed and still carry yourself in a feminine way." She's also mentioned that her favorite Motley Crue song is "Starry Eyes" , hence the stars around her eye.

Even greater than Kat's love for the band Motley Crue is her love for Ludwig van Beethoven. ( Could you ever beleive that? ) She has a large tattoo of the composer's face across her thigh and his initials, "LvB," on one of her fingers. Her obsession for Beethoven stems from playing classical piano since the age of 7.
At the age of 14, Kat got her very first tattoo: the letter "J" in Old English on her ankle. The "J" stood for "James," who was her first love, but now she jokes that it stands for "just kidding." Kat has no regrets about getting the tattoo and has vowed never to remove it.

Even though Kat's dad will never get tattooed himself, one of her favorite tattoos is a portrait of her father's high school graduation photo on her right arm. "My dad has always been a hero of mine, and so once I started doing so much traveling, it was just nice to be able to look down on my arm and see my pops with me," Kat explains.

Kat has a tattoo of her mother across her left shoulder. After her parents divorced, Kat actually gave her mom a tattoo even though the whole time she was nervous about causing too much pain.

Keeping her family close with tatoos, Kat has a portrait of older sister Karoline on her left arm.

Kat also loves Los Angeles, saying she feels married to the SoCal city, and so , amid all the other tattoos Kat has on her fingers , "L.A." adorns her left ring finger.
